A positive pregnancy test is only an indicator of a possible pregnancy. An ultrasound gives you important information for your health and safety. We will walk you through everything we see and answer any questions you have.
What the ultrasound reveals
- Whether the pregnancy is located in the uterus (ruling out ectopic pregnancy, which is a medical emergency)
- The estimated gestational age, which tells you how far along you are and affects your available options
- Whether cardiac activity is present and within a normal range
- Whether there are multiple pregnancies
- Whether a natural miscarriage has occurred (10 to 20 percent of known pregnancies end in miscarriage)
Safety and comfort
Ultrasound imaging has been used in prenatal care for decades and does not involve radiation. The procedure is well-tolerated, and our staff will explain each step as it happens. You are welcome to bring a support person with you. If you feel uncomfortable at any point, we will stop.

Our fully equipped mobile center is stationed in Hyannis, serving Cape Cod and the surrounding area. We offer free pregnancy testing and ultrasound (an early-pregnancy scan that confirms the pregnancy, estimates how far along you are, and assesses viability) at no cost. Same private setting, same licensed clinicians, closer to home. Walk-ins are welcome, but an appointment guarantees a shorter wait.
